19th C 14K Reverse Carved Crystal Intaglio, Monogram Cypher Brooch, Victorian

Beautiful yellow gold (testing strong 14K, likely to be 15 carat), believed Victorian cypher brooch, entwined monogram reverse intaglio crystal (often called Essex crystals) brooch. Large at 1 1/3, highly domed, and beautifully executed in scarlet red, periwinkle blue and gold with accenting little clovers in grass green. Lovely lettering in the Gothic style that was so popular in the Victorian era. The crystal is, of course hand made, carved and painted, set into a custom cathedral gold mount with little fleur de lis accents to the points.

Altogether lovely, surely a person of some stature - I have no idea who though! Weighs in at a substantial 23.63 grams, and as far as I can ascertain, no marks. Very fine condition with expected light wear, no damage. Pin in full working order and snug. NOTE: High contrast photos to show detail of the cypher.
