Antique Essex crystal horse brooch, pin, 9ct gold, reverse carved

An outstanding antique, late Victorian era Essex crystal horse brooch or pin. A reverse carved and enamelled rock crystal cabochon depicting a bridled horse. The cabochon is mounted into a closed back 9ct gold setting and is further mounted onto a slender gold bar. This piece is very versatile and would look great worn on a lapel or as a tie pin. It has a safety pin style fastening.

Unmarked tests as 9ct gold, late 19th century. 0.55 length at the longest point. 2.17 width at the widest point. Weighs approx 4.22 grams. Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, light bend in the pin.
