Antique Victorian 14ct Gold Carved Pink Shell Bacchante Bacchus Cameo Brooch Pin

An intricately carved Victorian shell cameo brooch. A pale pink blush in colour, almost white in places - possibly conch shell. Depicting a classical female bacchante, a follower of the Roman god of wine Bacchus. Grapes and vines adorn her flowing hair. In a 14ct yellow gold scalloped surround with bead work.

Secured with a period C clasp and pin with a tube hinge. Small loop for safety chain. Mark underneath loop is rubbed but has been tested to approximately 14ct. Internal oval white metal frame - untested looks base metal.
