Antique Victorian Carved Angel Skin Conch Trade Beads Necklace 14ct Gold Clasp

RARE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CARVED ANGEL SKIN COLOUR CONCH SHELL TRADE BEADS NECKLACE 14CT GOLD CLASP. GIFT Victorian 1837 - 1901 Such an Amazing and Unique Piece! An extraordinary and rare antique Victorian hand-carved conch shell (strombus giga) chunky trade beads necklace, in a wonderful angel skin colour. The oval shaped beads are just beautiful - cold to the touch and very tactile. They graduate in size and have lovely grain markings, with blushes here and there.

The largest central bead measures a whopping 29mm! The beads are hand-knotted on the original string, which still seems good and strong. The necklace fastens with a 14ct gold clasp, unmarked but tested to at least 14ct. The necklace is long enough to go over the head without undoing the clasp. There is a little surface wear here and there, as you would expect and two tiny nicks along the grain of the largest bead, which are very old and smooth (please see pictures).

The beads are in Fantastic Condition for 120 or more years old. Measures approximately: 26.5 or 67.5cm Largest bead measures approximately: 29mm Weight: 113g In Excellent Antique Condition.
