Antique Victorian carved giltwood gold gilt overmantle mirror original glass

Stunning Victorian overmantle mirror with original plate glass, circa 1840. Frame is carved foliage and architectural motifs beautifully gilded.

Dimensions of the frame: 153 cm tall, 130 cm wide at the top. 135 cm wide at the base. Mirror: 100 cm wide x 120 cm tall. The overmantle is in excellent condition for its age, although the plate glass has some'smokey' areas as it is original, but this just added to it's character. It looks great above a fireplace or floor standing, it's very tall so please check height.

We've just moved house from a period property and it doesn't go anywhere. We bought it in 1999 from Sussex Gilding and it looked stunning in our old house but a bit out of place here!
