This item is COW BONE - cows are NOT rare and are not protected species in any part of the world. (not counting weekends and/or holidays). Unfortunately, I cannot change this policy. Please READ THE ENTIRE description. I do my darn best. I attach MANY detailed pictures, inside, outside, sideways, etc. On my hand, with the scale, with the measuring tape etc. All gold is tested, all information imparted is factual. I don't sugar coat anything, I don't change or enlarge pictures but tell it how it is. Do NOT leave undeserved feedback because YOU glanced over the details or imagined something different smaller, bigger, heavier, lighter etc. Alloys with a higher gold content will have a color that is more saturated and yellow. In contrast, lower-karat alloys will look paler in comparison.

Lovely ANTIQUE Victorian (1837 - 1901) memento mori carved human skull. What does MEMENTO MORI mean? Memento mori is a Latin phrase meaning'remember you must die'. A basic memento mori painting would be a portrait with a skull but other symbols commonly found are hour glasses or clocks, extinguished or guttering candles, fruit, and flowers. Metal: unmarked (means not stamped for gold) but was tested for 9 k gold (yellow gold) (see above for info about alloys and colors).

1.2 centimeters x 9 millimeters (or 0.47 inches x 0.35 inches). 1.8 grams (see scale). Details: Naïve carving, color variation throughout due to age (see pictures from ALL angles) - pictures were taken on a sunny day at different times of the day (morning and mid afternoon) with a green plant background.

Pictures were taken with an Iphon. No filters were used no alterations were made. Last picture was taken inside. Colors might display differently on your screen or you might perceive the colors differently. Either way, I decline ANY AND ALL responsibility.

Cows are aplenty and the sale of items made out of cow bone is not prohibited in any part of the world. Compare the stated measurements and the weight to a charm you own (for scale). Weight and measurements are always approximate and taken to the best of my abilities. Condition is antique (meaning Victorian times old) (1819 -1901) obviously pre-owned, used, worn, loved. Item is 130+ years old with the usual scratches and wear. The carved skull shows various colors due to its age. It's really a neat charm. Nothing unusual to point out for a 130+ year old charm BUT not new, as new or almost new. Check ALL PICTURES, use the Zoom feature. Compare the stated measurements and the weight to a charm you own.
