Carved Lava Cameo Victorian Brooch - 15k Gold Antique St. This intriguing cameo would make a wonderful addition to a collection of antique jewelry! Dating from the Victorian Era circa 1840's - 1850's, this piece features a carved lava cameo in a frame of 15k yellow gold.

The sandstone-hued cameo is a beautifully detailed image of St. Mounted on a rearing charger, Great Britain's patron saint is wielding a lance against a cowering dragon. A bezel of textured gold secures the cameo in a frame encircled with a twisted gold rope.

Larger than many pieces of this genre, the brooch fastens from the back with a bar and hinged clasp. The bar is original to the brooch, but the clasp has been replaced. In excellent condition with the cameo image intact and clearly defined, this piece has not been cleaned in order to preserve its valued patina. This brooch weighs 35.7 grams.

The piece measures 2 1/2" (63.0mm) long and 2 5/32" (54.9mm) wide. We guarantee this piece to be 15k gold as tested.
