Presented is a fantastic quality antique 18 karat gold cameo pin or brooch. This piece dates the mid to late 1800s and is likely of American make, though the carving of the cameo is likely Italian. The cameo features a very detailed hand carved image of a woman in profile, with curly hair and an anchor at her shoulder, likely a representation of Hope.
The frame is stylish and well made in the Etruscan Revival style, with fine granulation and beadwork around the edge. The brooch has an old'C' style clasp which is quite secure.
