Victorian Mourning Whitby Jet Antique Earrings Carved Flower Dangle Screw Back

Victorian Mourning jewelry: a pair of antique black Whitby Jet dangle teardrop shaped earrings with screw back clip ons. If youll notice the top loop on each earring is different, which is common in handmade items-no two pieces are ever exactly the same. The screw backs, which were a later addition to the earrings, are either 9-10k gold or gold filled. As they were added, the process left minor chips in the jet (see photos) and there are some remnants/evidence of the glue used.

The earrings were likely originally wire wrapped at the top or stuck into the top of the earring and fish hooks would hang from the ears. The main part of the earring or tear drop portion is in excellent condition, especially for its age, with very little wear and/or scratches and dings. The hand carved flower could use a good scrubbing. 2 1/8 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. Please see all photos for details. Message us with any questions.
