Victorian Natural Pink Agate Hand Carved Hercules Cameo 14K Gold Brooch Pin

An absolutely fierce late Victorian carved agate cameo pin of Hercules set in 14K yellow gold. This is quite the special piece!

We have never seen pink and white banded agate in cameos before, and combined with an exquisitely carved profile of Hercules, this is rather a rare find. The carving of Hercules shows a serious expression with a glorious beard, wearing the Nemean lions skin on his head. This is based on the myth of the twelve labors of Hercules.

The cameo is set on top of a 14K yellow gold bar pin with beautiful scroll-like engravings along the shoulders of the pin. Numbers are engraved on the back of the cameo. Agate: 25.7 mm by 18.9 inches.

Measurements: 1.1 inches long by 2.0 inches wide. Condition: In very good antique condition with minor surface wear.
