Vtg Victorian 14K Carved Lava Bacchante Brooch Pendant Combination

An exquisite 14K gold carved lava Bacchante cameo brooch & pendant combination. The brooch features an ornate 14K frame and fairly high relief carving of a Bacchante (follower of Bacchus, Greek God of Wine). Note the gracefully carved leaves & grapes in her hair. Not stamped but acid tested.

The clasp catch has been changed at one point as it has a rollover safety catch, which wouldn't have been original to the old Victorian tube hinge, with extra long pin stem. This seems relatively common to fairly valuable Victorian jewelry. Once safety catches became available in the early 1900's many chose to have the original catch replaced. When viewed from the back a fine inner inclusion can be seen, which measures about 1/3 (top left). It is not an actual crack as I ran my fingernail over it and the surface is smooth.
